Applications for attestation of documents/certificates etc. issued by Sri Lankan authorities can be submitted to the Embassy. However such documents/certificates have been issued by authorities in Sri Lanka and should be certified by the Consular Division of the Ministry of External Affairs in Colombo with respective seals and signature/s .
Applications for attestation of documents/certificates issued by the Italian authorities can also be submitted to the Embassy. However such documents/certificates such as medical certificates, Birth Marriage, Death certificates, should be certified by the Municipality ( Comune) with respective seals and signature/s . However, the Private employment contract letters, appointment letters could be attested by this Embassy when they submitted along with recent payment of INPS contributions postal receipts in which the names of the employer and employee are indicated. Otherwise, these documents too have to be certified by the Comune.
The certification from the Comune is not required for the CUD Reports (Income Tax Reports), Monthly Pay Sheets , INAIL ( Insurance against accidents during work activities) provided that the applicants submit the originals.
Document issued by foreign countries should be counter signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country or its diplomatic representative in the country in which such documents have been issued, before the request is made to the Embassy.
The Embassy only authenticates the seal and signature of the officer who legalized such documents.
Documents required: All original documents should be submitted with a photocopy
a. Original documents.
b. Original passport
c. Relevant fee in Euro.
To certify the Sri Lankan Educational Certificates ( O/L and A/L ), the Embassy requires to obtain the approval from the Department of Examination of Sri Lanka, as well. To attest the University Degree Certificates/Diplomas etc., the prior approval from the Consular Division of the Ministry of External Affairs in Colombo is also required.
